Project via Talkpixels together with my colleague.

Challenge: for me, this was the first time working on a new corporate identity. I worked for the first time on an archetypes research, color research, typography research, and logo for a company.

Assignment - Design a new identity for Mentorschappen.

Mentorschappen will be a website where someone can request a mentor for personal matters such as financial issues. Mentorschappen can also look for parties that provide help in care, nursing, treatment, and guidance if needed."

Archetypes

Hero

Mentorschappen aims to improve the quality of life of its clients. They do this by communicating as effectively as possible with clients and respecting their needs.

Caregiver

Mentorships are here to help others. They are your personal support for financial and care-related matters. As caregivers, we believe giving is more important than taking. We do this as best as we can by protecting and helping our clients. We treat you the way you would treat yourself.

Typography

Manrope

The font Manrope is a sans-serif typeface, meaning it doesn't have small strokes at the ends of the letters. This gives it a very fresh and friendly appearance. The font features, for example, semi-closed openings and semi-rounded shapes. The half-roundings prevent the font from being too formal while still giving it a friendly look. Additionally, sans-serif fonts are more readable for people with visual impairments. Manrope therefore provides a better user experience for the clients of Mentorschappen.nl.

Colors

Orange

Orange is a warm, cheerful color that encourages creative and positive thinking. It is also stimulating and helps to reduce stress and depression.

Blue

Blauw staat voor stabiliteit en kracht daarnaast ook nog betrouwbaarheid, wijsheid, loyaliteit, expertise en eerlijkheid. Met blauw straal je een betrouwbaar en fris gevoel uit.

Color palette 3

The first two color palettes resulted in a somewhat dull effect. After making several iterations on the first two palettes, palette 3 was chosen.
A fresh and familiar color palette with different shades that provide enough contrast to create eye-catching conversion buttons.

Logo design

I first looked for some inspiration and then started creating the first versions of the logo. These versions were still in the first and second color palettes.

Concept

Based on the archetypes, I extracted a few keywords and used them to create logo designs.

  • Promises

  • Agreements

  • Mentor and client

  • Trustworthy

Additionally, I wanted to do something with the letter 'M' since Mentorship starts with 'M'. This led to an idea: two people supporting each other, making promises, and keeping agreements (symbolized by a handshake).

Eventually, my colleague made another iteration based on my last iteration (see above). This is the final result.
